CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Category Specialist for Capital and MRO Purchases will be responsible for managing and optimizing the procurement of capital, MRO (maintenance, repair, and operations) goods/services and SG&A spend for the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and category management principles.
- Develop and implement category strategies for capital and MRO purchases that align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Lead procurement activities and operations for Mumbai HO spend across various SG&A categories.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements.
- Develop and manage supplier relationships to ensure high-quality goods and services are delivered on time and at competitive prices.
- Monitor and analyze supplier performance to identify opportunities for improvement and cost savings.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the capital and MRO category, including market trends, supplier capabilities, and emerging technologies.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Develop and maintain procurement metrics to measure and track category performance.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance procurement efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain annual rate cards for spares and services, in collaboration with internal stakeholders and suppliers, to ensure competitive pricing and consistency in procurement processes.
- Track key commodities like MS Steel, SS Steel, Cement, Copper, and other relevant commodities to monitor market trends, pricing, and availability. Use this information to inform procurement decisions and develop category strategies.

- Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage supplier relationships.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement softwares
- Certification in procurement or supply chain management is a plus
- Supplier relationship management
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in procurement, with a focus on capital and MRO purchases.
- Business Trips (Percentage): 30%
