Manages the purchasing and supplier development activities in India under direction from the Purchasing Manager of IPO India.
Your responsibilities and tasks:

  • Communicate GEA requirements and expectations from suppliers clearly and effectively wrt QCD and Sustainability and Innovation.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with suppliers.
  • Follow-up with suppliers for meeting delivery commitments.
  • Managing effectively new product introductions and product revisions at suppliers.

Procurement :

  • Investigate and select potential suppliers for approval. This involves continuous scanning of the Supplier market in India and abroad.
  • Pricing, negotiations and contracting processes with suppliers under guidance of Purchasing Manager.
  • Supplier development through APQP and PPAP methodology
  • Work in close co-ordination with quality department for understanding quality issues at supplier end and actively support suppliers for developing desired quality levels, keeping in view project target lead times.
  • Manage new product introductions and product revisions at suppliers.
  • Support in ensuring suppliers meeting their vendor managed inventory targets and delivering the confirmed orders in time and according to specs.
  • Support the operational supply chain in India up to FOB Mumbai in close cooperation with the Logistics department at GEA various locations.
  • Maintain good relationships with suppliers and GEA team.
  • Liaise with all concerned GEA entities with regard to sharing information related to parts under series supply or development.
  • Regular reporting on vendor performance, price variance, stock level, overdue orders, etc.
  • Interpret and make decisions in accordance with laws, ordinances, rules, regulations, and policies governing the purchase and contracting of products for the Company. Closely follow internal procedures
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work with all stake holders cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Ensure NDA and CoCSS sign off from all new suppliers before start of formal RFQ.
  • Release of supplier selection audit reports as per format.
  • Release of development PO’s and Contracts on suppliers
  • Regular formal reporting on Supplier Delivery performance to all concerned GEA team members.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers, internal teams, and management regarding supplier’s on-going issues (if any) wrt Quality / Cost / Delivery / Sustainability.
  • Follow internal operational procedures and maintain relevant fields and parameters in the ERP system.

Supplier Audits:

  • Conduct on-site audits of supplier facilities to assess their overall capabilities.
  • Evaluate supplier wrt ISO9001 clauses and identify potential risks.
  • Work with suppliers to implement corrective action plans and improve their overall Delivery and Quality performance.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for improvement in supplier processes and quality systems.
  • Work with suppliers to implement process improvements and enhance product quality.
  • Promote the use of quality tools and methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma

Your profile and qualifications:

Qualifications, competencies & skills

  • Diploma / BE in Mechanical or Production Engineering

Work experience:

  • 10 to 12 years of experience in Procurement including supplier development.

Professional competencies:

  • Should have hands on experience in Supplier development activities, in similar industries.
  • Should have good knowledge of supplier base in India.
  • Knowledge on zero base costing is required.
  • Experience in dealing with international corporations.
  • Good communications skills and intra-personal skills.
  • Exposure to Quality Management System.
  • Should possess high level perseverance, negotiation skills and structured way of working.
  • Should be energetic and have positive attitude.

Additional skills (Beneficial):

  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt in procurement related projects.
  • Knowledge about Sustainable procurement.

Personal competencies:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel to supplier locations as needed
  • Good stretch ability to work under pressure and under adverse situation

Languages:

  • English : Good proficiency required in Written and Verbal
  • Hindi
