Johnson and Johnson is a household name, thanks in large part to its consumer healthcare division, even though it is a true powerhouse in many industries, including medical devices, pharmaceuticals and consumer goods. Johnson and Johnson has more than 182 listed drugs, market leader in hepatitis C, arthritis, HIV/AIDS and digestive diseases.

Merck is a Americal multinational pharmaceutical company and was founded in 1891.

Merck launched its promising cancer treatment Keytruda in 2014, one of six drugs approved by the FDA that same year, including insomnia treatments Belsomra and Zerbaxa, used to treat hospital-approved infections. GSK has developed a wide range of pharmaceutical, vaccine and consumer health products and has leading products in a wide range of therapeutic areas, including cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, asthma, cancer, infections, mental health, diabetes and digestive disorders. In April 2014, GlaxoSmithKline agreed to a more than $20 billion deal with Novartis to sell its oncology business to get most of Novartis’ vaccines to become the world’s largest vaccine company. The company was founded by Chicago Wallace physician Calvin Abbott in 1888 to make known drugs; Today, it sells medical equipment, diagnostics, branded original drugs and nutritional products. It split its research-based pharmaceutical business into AbbVie in 2013.
