Job Description

Import & Export Operations

  • Plan, execute, and monitor end-to-end import and export shipments (air, sea, road, rail).
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, CHAs, transporters, and internal stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all import/export documentation, including but not limited to Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Entry / Shipping Bill, Certificate of Origin (COO), DG / Non-DG Declarations, PTA / FTA documentation etc.
  • Conduct regular shipment reviews and resolve operational exceptions proactively.

Customs & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with Indian Customs Act, FTP, DGFT regulations, and applicable trade laws.
  • Manage imports under restricted or regulated HS codes, including coordination for ETA/WPC and other statutory licenses.
  • Act as the central approval authority for logistics clearance before importing new items, products, or FG.
  • Liaise with customs consultants and authorities for clarifications, audits, and dispute resolution.

IGCR & Concessional Duty Management

  • Manage imports under IGCR / concessional duty schemes, including : Utilization tracking, Quarterly IGCR, return filing, Re-export planning, Extension requests with customs authorities, Duty payment in case the exempted time period is over.
  • Ensure timely compliance with utilization timelines to avoid duty exposure or penalties.
  • Provide management with clear risk visibility and recommendations on consumption, re-export, or duty payment decisions.

SOPs, Process Control & Audit Readiness

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Import & Export SOPs covering Packing standards and labeling norms, Fumigation and export-worthiness requirements, DG compliance and declaration processes etc.
  • Ensure documentation integrity and traceability for internal audits, customs audits, and ISO requirements.
  • Support ERP process alignment, system testing, and logistics process mapping initiatives.

Freight Forwarders & CHA alignment, Logistics Performance, Warehousing & Cost Control

  • Manage releasing of RFQ for appointment of Freight Forwarders & CHAs.
  • Monitor and analyze logistics KPIs, including freight cost, transit time, service level, and carrier performance to meeting SCM KPIs and to support cost optimization initiatives savings.
  • Calling quotations from FF for ad hoc shipments.
  • Manage special transaction thru FTWZ, bonded warehouse and others as per business requirement.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Act as EXIM subject matter expert (SME) for Sales, Manufacturing facility, Projects, Planning, Warehouse, and Finance teams.
  • Provide regulatory guidance to prevent non-compliant sourcing or delivery commitments.
  • Represent the organization in discussions with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and regulatory bodies.
